AAP promises protection for student protesters facing right-wing intimidation in Delhi
AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj said the party will safeguard students who joined the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar if they receive threats from right-wing groups.
In a social-media message addressed to “Delhi GenZ,” AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj pledged that the party will protect any student who took part in the Cockroach Janata Party’s Jantar Mantar demonstration and is now facing intimidation from right-wing elements. He urged threatened students to invite the party into their homes and report the threats so AAP can act. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal shared the announcement, promising a collective response to “set these thugs straight.”
The remarks arrived a day after the Delhi government’s Home Department issued an order stating that no additional legal action will be pursued against most protestors, while still pursuing cases against participants with prior criminal backgrounds. The party’s offer aims to reassure young activists amid concerns over possible harassment. The government’s directive also called for the swift review and release of those already detained.
