Actress Tedde Moore, known for 'A Christmas Story', passes away

Canadian actress Tedde Moore died in Huntsville, Muskoka, surrounded by family, according to a statement posted on her Facebook page.

Tedde Moore, a Canadian-born actress who battled multiple sclerosis, died on Wednesday in Huntsville, Muskoka, with family members by her side, a Facebook post announced. Her relatives praised her bravery and the deep affection she shared with those around her. Moore is most celebrated for her role as Miss Shields, the teacher of Ralphie Parker, in Bob Clark’s 1983 film, a picture that won a Genie Award for best screenplay in 1984 and was later named Best Iconic Film at the 2023 Family Film Awards.

She reprised the role in the 1994 sequel It Runs in the Family and accumulated a range of credits in movies such as Overnight and Rolling Vengeance, as well as TV movies in the 1990s. In later years she appeared in The Kennedys and a holiday TV film with Tricia Helfer, with her final screen credit recorded in 2017. Moore was married to the late director Donald Shebib, with whom she had two children, and also had a daughter from a previous relationship and a foster daughter. Her family’s tribute emphasized the lasting love and mentorship she offered to all who knew her.
