Advocate allegedly fires at woman during Chandigarh eviction, victim critically wounded
A 57-year-old woman, Manvinder Kaur, was shot in the forehead by Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyer JPS Chadda during an eviction operation in Chandigarh’s Sector 42 and is now in critical condition.
Manvinder Kaur arrived at the disputed rental property with a court order and police escort to enforce an eviction against JPS Chadda, who was occupying the flat. When officials reached the second-floor door, a confrontation erupted and the advocate is reported to have discharged a firearm, striking Kaur in the forehead. She was taken to a hospital where doctors say her condition is serious. Police and the Chandigarh Forensic Science Laboratory have been dispatched to investigate the incident.
