Air India raises pilot pay by up to 15% to boost staffing

Air India announced salary increases for its pilots ranging from 8% to 15%, with the largest hikes for commanders.

The carrier said pilots will receive raises between 8% and 15%, and the biggest percentages apply to senior commanders. First officers will first see higher pay on Air India Express’s single-aisle fleet before moving to the main airline’s wide-body aircraft. The adjustments aim to make Air India Express more attractive and to alleviate crew shortages on its Boeing 737s.

Why it matters

Higher pilot pay aims to fix crew shortages and support Air India's recovery of international routes.
