Amanda Staveley leads consortium to acquire majority stake in West Ham United
Amanda Staveley, together with Mehrdad Ghodoussi and PCP Capital Partners, has agreed to purchase a 25.1% share of West Ham United, pending a pre-emptive offer from existing shareholders.
West Ham United confirmed that a consortium led by Amanda Staveley has secured an agreement to acquire a 25.1% interest in the club, alongside Mehrdad Ghodoussi and PCP Capital Partners. The proposed purchase comes after Vanessa Gold, daughter of former chairman David Gold, opted to sell the family’s shares following an aborted deal with Daniel Kretinsky. Before the transaction can close, existing West Ham shareholders are entitled to a pre-emptive right to buy the stake.
Gold emphasized her commitment to preserving the club’s long-term future and praised the incoming investors for their football-industry experience. Staveley, who left Newcastle United in 2024 after helping the club rise from relegation battles to European competition, sees the investment as a boost for the Hammers' ambitions. The agreement remains subject to final approvals and the pre-emptive process.
Why it matters
The ownership change could reshape West Ham's financial resources and strategic direction in the Premier League.
