American child injured by multiple dogs on Bahamas beach and flown to Miami for care
A 9-year-old boy was attacked by several dogs on a beach in Alice Town, Bahamas, and was airlifted by the U.S. Coast Guard to Miami for medical treatment.
Police reported that a young American boy was collecting sand on a north Bimini Island beach when multiple dogs assaulted him at approximately 10:30 a.m. A nearby adult intervened, chasing the dogs off the scene. The victim sustained numerous bite injuries to his right thigh, right arm, left leg, face and head, prompting an initial hospital visit in the Bahamas. Due to the severity of his wounds, the U.S. Coast Guard Southeast flew him to Miami, Florida, for further treatment.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force has located the owner of the dogs, who is cooperating with officials to retrieve and contain the animals. The boy’s health status remains unconfirmed as of the following day.
