Anbernic Announces August 5 Launch of New RG SP Handheld

Anbernic is set to open pre-orders for its RG SP handheld on August 5 at 6 AM ET/3 AM PT, pricing the base configuration at $65. Early-bird shoppers can claim a $7 discount if they buy within the initial three-day window. The RG SP, the third in Anbernic’s line of Game Boy Advance SP-style devices, retains a 3.4-inch display that mirrors the original’s aspect ratio and is powered by a 3,300 mAh battery promising about six hours of gameplay.

It drops the analog sticks found on the earlier RG 34XXSP model but incorporates an H700 chip that should support emulation through PSP-era games. Optional upgrades include 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, priced at $80 and $95 respectively. This launch aims to offer a more affordable clamshell handheld compared with Nintendo’s original 2003 pricing.
