Angels Trade Catcher O'Hoppe and Pitcher Silseth to Rangers for Prospect Arredondo

On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Angels initiated their trade-deadline maneuvers by shipping catcher Logan O'Hoppe and right-handed reliever Chase Silseth to the Texas Rangers. O'Hoppe has struggled this season, posting the lowest defensive rating among MLB catchers and a career-worst OPS. Silseth, who transitioned from a starter in 2022 to a bullpen role, posted a 2.72 ERA this year after limited major-league action last season.

In return, the Angels received 19-year-old Angel Arredondo, a former Mexican League player now performing well at the Class-A level with a solid OPS and power numbers. Arredondo was not listed among the Rangers' top prospects but has shown promise in 2026. The transaction underscores the Angels' shift toward a minor-league rebuild as the August 3 deadline approaches.
