Apple may add paid AI tier to iCloud Plus for heavy users

Tim Cook told investors that Apple intends to introduce a purchasable add-on for iCloud Plus that raises the ceiling on AI feature usage. The announcement coincides with the fall launch of the long-delayed Siri AI in iOS 27, which can interpret screen content, execute cross-app actions, and includes a standalone chat interface. Apple has already imposed daily limits on AI functions such as image generation due to the demand on its backend servers.

While most iCloud Plus subscriptions now receive increased access, the company appears ready to create distinct tiers for customers who need substantially more AI capacity. Services revenue, which encompasses iCloud Plus, Apple TV and Apple One, recently hit $30.74 billion. The potential tiered model could open a new revenue stream as AI usage grows.
