Apple rolls out new leasing service for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Watch
Apple has started a subscription-style leasing program called Apple Upgrade, letting U.S. customers lease the latest iPhone, Mac, iPad or Apple Watch.
Apple introduced Apple Upgrade, a leasing arrangement that aims to simplify access to its newest hardware across four product lines. Partnering with Klarna, the program mirrors traditional vehicle leasing, allowing subscribers to retain, purchase, or upgrade their device before the contract ends. Lease terms span two years for iPhones and Apple Watches and three years for Macs and iPads, with entry-level monthly payments as low as $17.99 for the iPhone 17e, $11.99 for the Watch Series 11, $24.99 for the MacBook Air, and $11.99 for the iPad Air.
Customers must pass a soft credit inquiry, and the service is sold through Apple’s website and retail locations in the United States. Apple Upgrade supersedes the 2015 iPhone Upgrade Program and excludes AppleCare coverage. The move follows recent price hikes on Apple’s hardware, which the company attributes to ongoing memory and storage shortages.
Why it matters
The program offers a flexible, lower-cost way for consumers to obtain Apple’s latest devices amid rising prices.
