Army major dies, two lieutenants hurt in Jaisalmer SUV crash with camel

Around 6 km from Jaisalmer city, a private Tata Safari SUV carrying three Indian Army officers collided with a camel that suddenly appeared on the road near the War Museum. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn nearly five times and slide roughly 100 metres before stopping. Major Hamza Arif, a 30-year-old from Indore, died during medical care, and Lieutenants Abhinav Rathore and Ayushman Gusain were hospitalized with injuries.

Police from Sadar Police Station and army personnel arrived promptly, rescuing the trapped officers and securing the site. The camel also died at the scene. A post-mortem is underway at Jawahar Hospital, and the incident echoes a fatal bus fire that occurred at the same location a year earlier.
