Atlanta Braves acquire former Phillies lefty Bailey Falter in multi-player deadline deal
The Atlanta Braves added left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter, a former Philadelphia Phillies draft pick, in a four-player trade with the Kansas City Royals.
Atlanta completed a four-player exchange with Kansas City just before the trade deadline, acquiring outfielder Lane Thomas and former Phillies left-hander Bailey Falter. The Royals received minor-league right-hander Lucas Braun, previously the Braves' No. 8 prospect, along with left-hander Carter Holton. Falter, a 2015 fifth-round pick of Philadelphia, posted his best major-league numbers with the Phillies in 2022 and will report to the Braves' Triple-A team in Gwinnett.
He spent the current season with Kansas City’s Triple-A Omaha, posting a 13.97 ERA in limited action before being designated for assignment. The move gives Atlanta additional experienced pitching depth and places Falter back in the NL East, now as a rival to his former team.
