Bangkok's New Content Market Generates Over $65 Million in Deals at Inaugural Event

Thailand's first dedicated international content marketplace concluded its debut with roughly THB2.2 billion ($65.5 million) in agreements after three days of matchmaking and co-production talks.

The Creative Economy Agency launched the inaugural Bangkok International Content Market 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, drawing over 600 content creators, studios, distributors and streaming platforms. Structured business-matching sessions facilitated more than 1,200 bilateral meetings, resulting in deals worth an estimated THB2.2 billion ($65.5 million) across licensing, adaptation rights and international co-productions.

Regional partnerships were formalised with QCinema International Film Festival, JAFF Market, Taiwan Creative Content Fest and the Danang Asian Film Festival, reinforcing Thailand's aim to serve as a gateway to the 700-million-strong ASEAN audience. A Variety-backed pitching contest, supported by White Light Studio and others, granted a $10,000 Asian Project prize to Taiwan's "Honey Milk" and two $5,000 Thai awards. Executives from Jungka Studio and the Creative Economy Agency highlighted the market’s role in fostering new collaborations and positioning Thai content as a high-value IP hub. Plans are already underway for a second edition to build on the momentum.
