Bernie Sanders says he will not endorse any Wisconsin governor hopeful

Senator Bernie Sanders told Pod Save America he has no plans to back a candidate in Wisconsin’s upcoming gubernatorial primary.

On the Pod Save America program, Senator Bernie Sanders was asked about a possible endorsement in Wisconsin’s Democratic gubernatorial primary and responded that he does not intend to support any candidate. He noted that he has not been tracking the contest closely and that he rarely participates in governor’s races. Sanders mentioned a past encounter with Francesca Hong, calling her very nice, but reiterated his unfamiliarity with the current field.

The primary, scheduled for August 11, includes Hong, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, state Senator Kelda Roys, and former Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan. Sanders’ decision reflects his general practice of staying out of state-level endorsements.
