Best Buy lists Asus RTX 5080 OC above RTX 5090's suggested retail price

Best Buy now charges $2,099 for the Asus ROG Astral RTX 5080 OC, pushing the price above the $1,999 MSRP of Nvidia’s newer RTX 5090. This marks a 40% jump from the card’s $1,499 launch price and more than twice the $999 MSRP of the RTX 5080 Founders Edition. While other retailers still sell the same GPU for lower amounts—Asus lists it at $1,899—the Best Buy price reflects broader market pressures, including persistent component shortages and climbing RAM costs.

VideoCardz notes this is the only RTX 5080 on Best Buy priced higher than the RTX 5090’s MSRP. Nvidia is reportedly preparing a further 20-30% increase in its GPU lineup, marking the third such hike this year. The situation underscores the volatility of high-end graphics-card pricing in the current supply environment.
