Bezos and Saverin Near Deal for Minority Stake in Liverpool Football Club

Jeff Bezos and Eduardo Saverin are in advanced negotiations to acquire roughly a third of Liverpool FC, valuing the club at about $6 billion.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin are reportedly finalising talks to buy a minority stake of about one-third in Liverpool Football Club, which would value the team at roughly $6 billion. The bid is being organised by a consortium headed by Amit Bhatia, a businessman with prior involvement in English football through Queens Park Rangers. Under the arrangement, Fenway Sports Group would continue as the controlling shareholder, maintaining the ownership structure it established after its £300 million acquisition in 2010.

Bezos, whose fortune is estimated at more than $280 billion, and Saverin, with an estimated net worth above $30 billion, would be the latest ultra-wealthy figures to enter Premier League ownership. Their participation would mark a significant expansion of football’s appeal to global investors, building on the club’s commercial growth and on-field successes over the past decade.

Why it matters

A high-profile investment could reshape Liverpool’s ownership and signal further billionaire interest in top-flight football.
