In New Delhi, BJP parliamentarian Anurag Thakur demanded explanations from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi. Karnataka BJP representative Chalavadi Narayanaswamy referenced the tape, claiming that about 80% of the ministers obtained their roles by offering money, and wondered whether senior Congress figure HK Patil was excluded for refusing to pay.
Thakur further pointed to the appointment of B Nagendra, who is under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in the Valmiki Tribes Development Corporation case, as evidence of questionable selections. The party’s accusations aim to portray Congress as corrupt ahead of upcoming political contests.
