Boat capsizes near Liberty Island, woman and child hospitalized in critical condition

Around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, a boat overturned off the coast of Liberty Island, leading NYPD and Coast Guard teams to launch a rescue. Emergency crews pulled a woman and a child from the water; both were taken to hospital in serious condition. Approximately twelve other passengers were retrieved safely from New York Harbor. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident.
