Bollywood giants vie for Rs 300 crore theatrical rights to Bhansali's 'Love & War'

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's romantic war saga 'Love & War', featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, is generating a fierce bidding war for its theatrical distribution, with offers hovering around Rs 300 crore. Companies including Dharma Productions, Zee Studios and Pen Marudhar are said to be in talks for the rights. The project has already secured more than Rs 200 crore from non-theatrical deals, notably a Rs 130 crore streaming agreement with Netflix and further earnings from music and satellite licenses.

Production entered its last schedule on August 3 at Royal Palms in Goregaon, focusing on elaborate battle sequences involving dozens of stunt performers and hundreds of junior artistes, with plans to wrap by the end of the month. After completing the film, Ranbir Kapoor will shift to promoting his next venture, 'Ramayana'. The movie, originally set for a Christmas 2025 debut, has been postponed multiple times and is now expected to hit theatres on January 21, 2027.
