Brinks Home breach exposes millions of records, prompts fraud warnings for customers

Brinks Home confirmed that hackers accessed part of its IT systems and claim to have taken millions of Salesforce records, while the company says its alarm services remain unaffected.

Brinks Home reported an unauthorized intrusion into a portion of its IT environment, first detected on July 20, and immediately activated its incident-response plan with outside cybersecurity specialists. The hacker collective ShinyHunters claims to have extracted more than 4.9 million Salesforce records, encompassing over 1.1 million customer contacts, 4,000 employee entries, and roughly 3.8 million support-chat logs, though no independent verification exists.

The firm emphasized that its alarm monitoring and security hardware continue to function normally and that no breach of those services has been identified. It pledged to inform affected individuals if personal information is confirmed compromised. In parallel, Brinks Home cautioned customers about phishing attempts that may impersonate the company or investigators, urging verification through official channels and warning against sharing authentication codes. The FBI has noted that ShinyHunters often mixes real and inflated data claims to pressure victims.
