Brisbane bus driver’s appeal against fatal crash conviction rejected
A Brisbane bus driver’s attempt to overturn his careless-driving conviction for the death of 18-year-old Tia Cameron was denied by the district court.
Lindsay Francis Selby, 72, was found guilty after his bus mounted a curb in the central business district, pinning Tia Cameron against a building where she died on the scene. The magistrate had imposed an eight-month suspended sentence and a one-year driving ban. Selby appealed the verdict in the Brisbane District Court, but Judge Bernard Porter KC dismissed the challenge and ordered him to cover $1,800 in costs to the Queensland Police Service.
