British filmmaker Justin Hardy died at 61 following a heart attack, his family announced on Friday night. A BAFTA and Emmy-nominated director, Hardy was best known for the 2024 documentary "Children of the Wicker Man," created with his brother Dominic to explore their father Robin Hardy's cult classic. He had just wrapped "Wrath of the Gods," the final chapter of the Wicker Man trilogy, which was scheduled to premiere later this month, leaving him unable to see its release.
Throughout his career he produced historical documentaries and series for broadcasters such as one outlet, Channel 4 and one outlet, covering topics from the Princes in the Tower to the Spanish Flu. Hardy also shared his expertise as a screenwriting lecturer at University College London. Survivors include his wife Larissa and their four children, while his brother Dominic praised his boundless energy and artistic legacy.
