Brother-in-law kills sister-in-law over late meal, displays head on banyan tree

A violent incident unfolded in Imadpur village, Jehanabad district, where 25-year-old Anshu Devi was allegedly hacked to death with an axe by her brother-in-law Kunal Kumar after a quarrel over a delayed meal. After decapitating her, Kumar is reported to have hung the head from a banyan tree close to his residence. Passing villagers spotted the macabre display, reported it, and police from Parsa Bigha police station retrieved the body for forensic examination.

Kunal Kumar was apprehended on the spot and taken into custody for questioning. The local SHO, Sarv Narayan, stated that while the dispute over food appears to be a trigger, the investigation remains open to all possible motives. The case highlights a rare but shocking act of intra-family violence in a rural Indian setting.
