BSE to Join Nifty 50 as Wipro Moves to Next 50 Index

In the semi-annual review of the Nifty 50, the NSE Indices' Index Maintenance Sub-Committee decided to substitute Wipro Ltd with BSE Ltd, effective September 30, 2026. BSE's six-month average free-float market capitalisation of Rs 1,40,879 crore is at least 1.5 times that of the smallest current constituent, Wipro, which records Rs 55,930 crore. Consequently, BSE will also join the Nifty 50 Equal Weight index, while Wipro moves to the Nifty Next 50 together with Hitachi Energy India, Polycab India, Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vodafone Idea.

The review noted that TVS Motor Company and Divi’s Laboratories, though larger, were not eligible due to the specific inclusion criteria. Moreover, BSE will enter the Nifty 100, replacing Indian Hotels, Lodha Developers, REC, Shree Cement and United Spirits, alongside the other new Next 50 members. All changes across the related indices are slated for the same date.
