Caleb Wassmer Leads Evansville City Golf Tournament at 13-Under After Two Rounds

The 97th edition of the Evansville City Golf Tournament began with a series of low rounds, a new single-round record and a cut line that rose to five over par. Caleb Wassmer, a North Posey alumnus and former University of Evansville golfer, carded a 2-under 69 in the second round to sit at 13-under, holding a four-stroke advantage heading into the next venue. Two-time defending champion Peyton Blackard and Daymian Rij each sit at 9-under after strong performances at Fendrich and Helfrich, respectively, keeping the title race close.

Other contenders include Logan Osborne at 8-under and Wade Worthington at 6-under, while the top-40 cut list extends to players at +5. The tournament will shift to Rolling Hills and Evansville Country Club next weekend, where tougher conditions are expected. Players anticipate a winning total around 15 or 16 as the rough deepens and greens become faster.
