The agency’s schedule still shows critical components like tunnels, train procurement, and maintenance facilities with dates marked “TBD.”
Trade publication Railway Supply warned that without a manufacturer selected, engineering and prototype work cannot begin, further stalling the project. Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones criticized the spending, saying the funds should support infrastructure that Californians actually need. To date, $16 billion has been allocated with no operational trains in sight.
