Cape Verde’s World Cup Coach Bubista Takes Helm at Morocco’s RS Berkane

Cape Verde’s former national team manager Pedro Brito, better known as Bubista, joined Moroccan side RS Berkane on a two-year deal. He succeeds Moïne Chaâbani, who departed for a role in Tunisia. The Cape Verde federation publicly thanked Bubista for his professionalism after the team’s impressive debut at the World Cup, which included draws with Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia and a narrow extra-time loss to Argentina, highlighted by Sidny Lopes Cabral’s goal voted best of the tournament.

RS Berkane, the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup champions, is closely linked to Fouzi Lekjaa, a key figure in Moroccan football and ally of FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The appointment underscores the club’s ambition to build on recent continental success.
