Brian Malloy, the 59-year-old chief executive of Carpenter Technology Corp., passed away suddenly just three weeks after assuming the role.
Carpenter Technology Corp., a $3 billion stainless-steel alloy manufacturer based in Philadelphia, announced that its newly installed chief executive, Brian Malloy, died suddenly on Friday. Malloy, 59, had been the company's chief operating officer and took over the CEO post on July 1, succeeding Tony Thene, who had led the firm since 2015. The company did not disclose the cause of death, but expressed deep sorrow and extended sympathies to Malloy’s wife Luiza and their three children.
Thene will return to his former role effective immediately, and the upcoming investor conference call on Thursday will still be held. Carpenter’s stock fell about 4.6% in Monday trading after the news broke.
