CBP Seizes 129.67 Pounds of Cocaine in Del Rio Border Stop

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Del Rio Port of Entry stopped a 2013 Dodge Durango on August 4 after selecting it for a more thorough check. The vehicle, driven by a 29-year-old American, was scanned with non-intrusive technology, uncovering 49 packages of cocaine concealed in the quarter panels. The drugs weighed 129.67 pounds and were estimated to be worth $1,731,425.

Officers arrested the driver and transferred him to Homeland Security Investigations, which opened a criminal case. Del Rio Port Director Liliana Flores praised the officers’ vigilance and the role of technology in securing the border. The seizure adds to the Laredo Field Office’s record of intercepting over 45,000 pounds of narcotics between October 2025 and June 2026.
