Authorities in Sacramento County detained chef Adam Pechal on a felony domestic-violence charge following a report of physical assault at his Arden-Arcade residence on Wednesday night. After the woman was examined by medical staff and found to be stable, deputies placed Pechal under arrest and processed him at the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for an arraignment before the Sacramento Superior Court on Friday.
Pechal, 50, first gained national attention as a contestant on the inaugural season of a journalist at one outlet, a series co-hosted by the late Anthony Bourdain. He later ran Sacramento eateries such as Tuli Bistro, Thir13en and Tuli Catering, and in 2025 designed the menu for Local Flights at Sacramento International Airport. Recent social-media posts show him working as a private chef and culinary consultant for Sacramento Kings players, but the felony charge now overshadows his culinary career.
