Celtic Target Torino Midfielder Gvidas Gineitis in Potential €15m Deal

Celtic are reportedly preparing a bid for Torino's Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, with a fee around €15 million as they look to bolster their midfield.

Celtic have reportedly renewed their pursuit of Torino's 22-year-old Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, following weeks of scouting highlighted by earlier reports. Gineitis, a product of NFA Kaunas and former SPAL youth player, has made 80 appearances for Torino since his Serie A debut in February 2023, scoring three goals and providing three assists. Torino is expected to set a price near €15 million, though his representative Dmitry Vinokurov has not dismissed a summer exit if a suitable offer emerges.

Celtic’s interest comes as manager Martin O’Neill evaluates midfield options, with veteran Callum McGregor and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remaining core, while other squad members may depart. The club aims to add Gineitis as a physical, box-to-box “number 8” to partner with McGregor in a double-pivot. Negotiations over the fee are expected to continue.

Why it matters

The move could reshape Celtic's midfield and signal a major investment by a Scottish club in the European transfer market.
