Central California daycare operator arrested on multiple felony child abuse charges
Javier RiveraMojica, 67, was taken into custody after investigators charged him with numerous lewd acts involving children under 14 at an unlicensed home daycare he ran with his wife in Shandon.
A 67-year-old man from Shandon, identified as Javier RiveraMojica, was arrested after a police raid on his home-based, unlicensed daycare revealed alleged sexual abuse of children under the age of 14. The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at the property on South Fourth Street and subsequently booked RiveraMojica on a no-bail warrant that includes 11 counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and almost two dozen felony sentencing enhancements.
Investigators believe the daycare, which he operated with his wife, allowed him to reach numerous victims and are continuing to look for other potential victims or witnesses. The department has pledged ongoing safety and well-being support for the alleged victims and has provided advocacy services. Detectives have asked the public to come forward with any relevant information, emphasizing that the investigation remains active.
