Chiefs pass-game coach Bleymaier shares insights from Day 6 of camp
Pass-game coordinator Joe Bleymaier fielded media questions after the Kansas City Chiefs’ sixth full-team practice, highlighting Patrick Mahomes’ health, Kenneth Walker’s playmaking and the progress of backups.
After Tuesday’s full-team, padded practice, Chiefs pass-game coordinator Joe Bleymaier answered local reporters, offering a deeper look into the camp’s direction. He affirmed that quarterback Patrick Mahomes appears fully healthy, with no knee concerns affecting his performance, and that the staff will not restrict his play-calling options. Bleymaier highlighted running back Kenneth Walker’s ability to evade tackles and open the field, stressing the value of using backs in both rushing and receiving roles.
He also praised the impressive showing of backup quarterbacks Justin Fields and rookie Garrett Nussmeier, noting their command of the offense and physical gifts. Rookie wideout Cyrus Allen, dealing with a bone bruise, was described as “day-to-day” but showing natural feel for space. Filling in for offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who is attending to his wife Mia Bieniemy, Bleymaier said the goal is to keep practices demanding to foster improvement. The next practice is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
