CHP halts high-speed chase on 91 Freeway, arrests suspect with juvenile passenger

California Highway Patrol stopped a white minivan on the 91 Freeway early Wednesday, detaining a man after a pursuit that began in Long Beach.

A dramatic pursuit by the California Highway Patrol unfolded on a Southern California highway early Wednesday, culminating in the capture of a suspect after the vehicle was halted near exit 110 on the 91 Freeway. The chase originated in Long Beach and proceeded through Compton before officers forced the white minivan to stop around 8 a.m. A man wearing blue shorts, a white T-shirt and a hat exited the driver’s seat and was quickly tackled and handcuffed by at least two officers.

Shortly after, a male juvenile emerged from the minivan as police secured the area. Authorities have not yet explained what triggered the pursuit or the relationship between the adult and the child. Both the California Highway Patrol and the Anaheim Police Department were on the scene, but further information has not been released.
