Chrysler recalls over 1.27 million Ram 1500 pickups for seat-belt anchor issue

Chrysler announced a recall of more than 1.27 million Ram 1500 pickups covering model years 2019 through 2026 due to potentially improper installation of the second-row seat-belt buckle anchors. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says about 0.1 % of the vehicles may be affected and warns that reduced load management could increase injury risk in certain crashes. The affected trucks were produced from February 17 2018 to April 27 2026, and the problem stems from an assembly error rather than a defective component.

Dealers have been instructed to check the anchors and secure them to the body structure at no cost to owners. Notification letters to owners are scheduled to begin on August 18, following a dealer notice issued around August 6. Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, was unavailable for comment.
