Claire’s revamps piercing service with new look and training for Gen Alpha shoppers
Claire’s is overhauling its ear-piercing offering, adding a lavender-themed store design, upgraded associate training and new product lines aimed at 10-year-old customers.
Claire’s is redesigning its core ear-piercing business to better serve its target market of 10-year-old girls, unveiling a lavender-colored aesthetic and a dedicated curved purple station in each location. Jillian Cueff, the brand’s chief merchandising officer, highlighted the launch of a mobile Piercing Excellence Team that provides ongoing education, recertification and clinical-level safety standards using FDA-registered equipment.
The retailer now offers fresh jewelry options such as lab-grown-diamond studs and bundles free piercings with an after-care kit starting at $29.99. Interactive elements like selfie mirrors and tactile “squishies” aim to make the experience more appealing and shareable. The first updated store opened in Santa Anita, California, with plans to roll out the concept throughout Claire’s 900-store network in the U.S. and Canada. The initiative follows the company’s recent Chapter 11 restructuring, sale to private-equity firm Ames Watson and a focus on boosting revenue and customer delight.
Why it matters
The makeover seeks to rejuvenate Claire’s appeal to young shoppers and drive sales after its recent bankruptcy and ownership change.
