Classmate accused of stabbing fellow BCA student to death in Lucknow home
Police say 20-year-old Devansh Pathak killed his classmate Smriti Pandey during an argument at her Lucknow house.
In Lucknow's Narpatkheda area, 20-year-old Smriti Pandey, a first-year Bachelor of Computer Applications student at TS Mishra College, was discovered dead with deep throat wounds inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon. Her elder sister, Jagrati Pandey, found the body after returning home and called the police, who secured the scene and identified the suspect, classmate Devansh Pathak, also 20, with injuries nearby. Pathak was hospitalized at Lok Bandhu Hospital before being taken into custody.
Police say the dispute arose after Pathak learned Smriti was alone and suspected her of talking with another man, leading to a violent altercation. The weapon, a knife, and a mobile phone have been seized, and investigators are reviewing forensic, medical, call-record and message data to verify the sequence of events. Smriti's father, Shailendra Pandey, is a retired Naib Subedar serving as an NCC instructor, and her mother is Kiran Pandey.
