Coach Norvell praises Ashton Daniels after first scrimmage at Doak Campbell

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell said quarterback Ashton Daniels performed well in the team's first fall-camp scrimmage at Doak Campbell Stadium.

The Seminoles opened their fall training with an internal scrimmage inside Doak Campbell Stadium, and head coach Mike Norvell expressed satisfaction with the showing of quarterback Ashton Daniels. Norvell praised Daniels for his poise, command of the playbook and precise passing, particularly on third-down situations. He observed that the quarterback has progressed markedly since spring and now benefits from the most talented group of skill players he has seen, citing All-ACC receiver Duce Robinson and explosive wideout Micahi Danzy.

The running-back rotation, featuring Ousmane Kromah, Quintrevion Wisner and Samuel Singleton Jr., also appears stronger after the offseason. Norvell confirmed Daniels has secured the starting role over Kevin Sperry as the team aims for a bowl appearance this season.

Why it matters

The assessment sets expectations for Florida State's offense as the season approaches.
