The College Sports Commission has given the green light to restructured name, image and likeness deals worth $7.5 million for 18 Nebraska football players.
A revised set of name, image and likeness contracts valued at $7.5 million for 18 University of Nebraska football players has been approved by the College Sports Commission. The original deals, brokered through Nebraska’s multimedia-rights partner Playfly, were dismissed by an arbitrator who said they lacked a legitimate business purpose and violated rules against holding NIL rights for future use. Troy Dannen, Nebraska’s athletic director, confirmed the contracts were restructured and sent back for review.
The commission now cleared the agreements, with full payment to be made after each athlete fulfills the deal’s requirements. Schools can allocate up to $21.3 million in revenue sharing with athletes for the 2026-27 season, and third-party firms like Playfly enable institutions to exceed that cap.
