Conservative Candidate Faces Democrat-Backed Rival in Warren County GOP Chair Race

A Catholic conservative attorney and a Democrat-supported opponent will contest the Warren County Republican Committee chairmanship on Aug. 5 amid allegations of voting irregularities and party infiltration.

In Warren County, Virginia, a contested race for the Republican Committee chair pits attorney David Silek against former secretary Scott Lloyd. Silek’s February victory, secured with support from Democrats, the county sheriff and the board chair, was nullified after the Sixth District Republican Committee found numerous procedural violations, including alleged voter fraud and ballot tampering. Lloyd, a Catholic father of nine, claims the party is being subverted by left-leaning operatives who manipulated the earlier election.

The upcoming Aug. 5 election, held at the county health center’s “Old Gym,” will be limited to registered Republicans, though reports suggest Silek’s camp has subsidized application fees for supporters. Disputes also linger over the committee’s bank account, which Silek allegedly retained after his removal. The contest will determine whether the county’s GOP stays under a conservative “America First” leadership or yields to a more moderate, Democrat-favored direction.
