CRPF officer opens fire on colleagues at Assam camp, then takes his own life
An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force shot two fellow personnel and wounded another at a Nagaon camp in Assam before committing suicide.
Around 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ballani Premabaram opened fire at the CRPF 34 Battalion base in Katimari, Nagaon district. The attack killed Head Constable Vishnu Prasad Baghel and Sub-Inspector Ramnawal Singh Yadav, while Assistant Sub-Inspector Govind Sripul sustained injuries and was taken to a private hospital. Deputy Superintendent of Police Paramita Sarkar confirmed that Premabaram turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.
