CRPF to Review RAF Tactics After Student Protest Ends

Central Reserve Police Force Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh stated that the force will undertake a professional post-event assessment of the Rapid Action Force’s handling of the recent student protests organized by the Cockroach Janata Party. The evaluation will follow the CRPF’s routine procedure after major deployments now that the agitation has ended and participants have dispersed. Opposition parliamentarians, notably Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, have alleged police brutality, citing claims of AK-47 use and mass arrests, and have called for an apology from Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The protests, which began over a NEET exam paper leak, gained national attention after activist Sonam Wangchuk began a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, and tensions peaked during the “Sansad Chalo” march on July 20 when police reportedly used tear gas and lathi charges. In the wake of the unrest, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and was succeeded by Pralhad Joshi. Singh said the forthcoming assessment will be communicated once completed.
