Cyclospora outbreak victims may receive settlements up to seven figures as deaths emerge

Legal teams representing roughly 400 confirmed cyclospora victims allege that compensation could vary from $20,000 to $1 million, and a fatality may command a seven-figure settlement. The parasite, linked to contaminated lettuce from Taylor Farms served at Taco Bell locations, has caused over 20,000 infections across the United States, with Michigan accounting for about 11,200 cases. A 70-year-old client of OFT Law is now on dialysis due to renal failure.

Taylor Farms issued a recall of all Mexican-grown iceberg lettuce on July 17 and suspended production at its Salinas-area farm. Lawsuits target both Taylor Farms and Taco Bell, though the latter’s contract may shift liability to the supplier. Settlements are expected to take six months to a year, and investigators are still gathering medical records.
