Demi Vollering clinches historic second Tour de France Femmes title on Nice finale

In the concluding stage of the fifth edition of the Tour de France Femmes, Dutch cyclist Demi Vollering claimed victory, becoming the competition’s inaugural repeat winner. After seizing the yellow jersey from Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney on stage eight, she entered the 99.2 km Nice circuit with an eight-second advantage. The route included four ascents of the Col d’Eze and a total of 2,100 m of climbing.

Early in the race Zoe Backstedt set a hard tempo, but a crash involving former leader Marlen Reusser on the second descent removed her from contention. Vollering attacked before the final climb’s summit, distancing Niewiadoma-Phinney and winning the stage by over a minute, her third stage win of the event. She expressed pride in winning while wearing the yellow jersey and emphasized her team’s deserved triumph. Italy’s Elisa Longo Borghini completed the podium, marking her first top-three finish.
