Democratic Attorneys General Formed Secret Coalition to Target Trump Before His Reelection

Records reveal that a coalition of Democratic state attorneys general convened in April 2024, signing a “Privileged & Confidential Common Interest Agreement” to coordinate litigation against Donald Trump while keeping the collaboration out of public view. The pact, part of the Project for Federal Accountability, was established well before Trump’s reelection and before he resumed any presidential powers. Since the inauguration of his second term, the group has pursued close to 100 lawsuits, with California Attorney General Rob Bonta involved in 82, Colorado’s Phil Weiser in at least 75, and Washington’s Nick Brown in 70.

Participants claim the coordination is a routine legal preparation, but opponents label it a pre-emptive partisan assault. The effort has cost California $19 million, with additional funding authorized, and New Jersey allocated $1 million for dedicated staff, meaning taxpayers are financing the legal campaign.
