Democratic autopsy author claims key chapter on wealth and Biden was omitted

The writer of the Democratic Party’s internal review of the 2024 presidential defeat, Paul Rivera, alleges that a full chapter discussing generational wealth among senior elected officials was cut from the version released in May. He said the omitted section, called “What Happened in 2024,” examined President Joe Biden’s choice to run again and the policy sway of consultants who have profited from politics. Rivera provided the missing text to one outlet, while party chair Ken Martin claimed he never reviewed such a chapter and would have published it if it existed.

The controversy highlights broader dissatisfaction with the report, which many said did not address why the party and its candidates, including Vice-President Kamala Harris, failed to attract enough voters against Donald Trump. The debate resurfaces as Democrats head into the November midterms and the 2028 presidential cycle with a cash shortfall, while Republicans report a sizable surplus. The issue also coincides with upcoming Democratic primary contests in Michigan for Senate seats.
