Diamond Necklace Extends Perfect Record with Convincing Nassau Stakes Victory

Diamond Necklace confirmed her dominance on the second day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival by taking the Qatar Nassau Stakes, her sixth consecutive Group One win. Starting as the 4-6 favorite, the filly overcame seasoned older fillies, pulling away decisively under Ryan Moore, who described the race as easy and highlighted her smooth travel and quickening. Aidan O'Brien expressed delight at her continued development, noting she carried more weight but showed strength, and outlined a menu of possible autumn races, including the Irish Champion Stakes, a French Arc trial, or even a Breeders’ Cup entry.

The victory also saw her odds for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe shorten, though O'Brien stopped short of confirming a specific plan. Friendly Soul, returning from injury, delivered a commendable run and will have her future programme reviewed by trainer Thady Gosden and owners George and Julia Strawbridge. The race added another chapter to O'Brien’s successful season, following classic wins in the French 1,000 Guineas and Oaks.
