Dominguez blames wall bounce for costly misplay in Yankees' loss at Wrigley

During a close game at Wrigley Field, Yankees right fielder Jasson Domínguez misjudged a ball that struck the side wall and ricocheted away, enabling Pete Crow-Armstrong to score the go-ahead run in a 5-2 loss to the Cubs. Domínguez described the play as “tough” and declined to blame his inexperience at the ballpark, while manager Aaron Boone highlighted the difficulty of that particular corner of the stadium. The misplay occurred with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, after Pedro Ramírez had reached first base.

Pitcher Max Fried, returning from injury, continued to surrender early runs, and the Yankees had just traded Camilo Doval to the Pirates, calling up reliever Yovanny Cruz who later gave up a run. Bench player Ben Rice made a brief appearance, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. returned after a hamstring issue, while Clarke Schmidt logged a short simulated session in the minors.
