DoorDash adds restaurant reservations in New York, targeting DashPass members

DoorDash has rolled out an in-app table-booking feature for several high-profile New York eateries, with exclusive slots reserved for its paid DashPass subscribers.

DoorDash expanded its reservation capability to New York City, allowing diners to book tables at a curated list of popular restaurants, including The Corner Store, The Eighty-Six, Dante, L’Artusi, Roscioli, Scarpetta and Tokyo Record Bar. The app displays all participating venues, but the most desirable time slots are reserved for DashPass members, a subscription that costs $9.99 a month and includes zero-fee deliveries and other discounts.

To encourage usage, standard users earn a $10 DoorDash credit after a qualifying reservation, while members receive $12, redeemable on future orders. This launch builds on DoorDash’s earlier foray into reservations in Miami and reflects its broader strategy to become a full-service dining platform after buying hospitality tech firm SevenRooms for roughly $1.2 billion in 2025. Additional benefits include discounted Lyft rides for members. The service is now available to New York diners seeking a more streamlined way to secure hard-to-get tables.

Why it matters

The launch turns a delivery app into a broader dining platform, changing how New Yorkers secure reservations at top restaurants.
