Drunk Designer Shoots Airgun from Balcony, Sparks Panic in Bengaluru Complex
A senior designer in Bengaluru fired an airgun from his third-floor balcony, damaging a parked SUV and frightening residents, but no one was hurt.
In the early hours of Thursday, Anurag Tiwari, a senior designer at Bridgestone Select-Tyres World, allegedly opened fire with an airgun from his third-floor balcony at the Sipani Bliss complex in Bengaluru's Anekal area. The barrage lasted roughly 40 minutes, striking a parked SUV and breaking its rear windshield. When security guards and nearby residents shouted for him to stop, Tiwari reportedly pointed the weapon at them, causing occupants to retreat and secure their apartments.
Residents alerted Surya City police at about 3.10 am; officers found Tiwari locked inside his flat, eventually gaining entry and taking him into custody. During questioning, he said he had been drinking and was upset over personal matters. He has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act for criminal intimidation and property damage.
